Mind you, I was still big and bulky and quite glad of being able to float along in the water. I took quite a few pho\u00adtos, but these two are the only ones I deemed worthy of pub\u00adlish\u00ading. They\u2019re from the \u201csaddle road\u201d between the vol\u00adca\u00adnoes on the Big Island.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I found the con\u00adtrast between the new lava, the old lava, and the no-longer-vis\u00adible lava on this photo to be the inter\u00adest\u00ading&nbsp;part:&nbsp;<a class=\"imagelink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.laurenwood.org\/anyway\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/08\/IMG_0243.jpg\" title=\"View from Saddle Road on Hawaii\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image145\" src=\"http:\/\/www.laurenwood.org\/anyway\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/08\/IMG_0243.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"View from Saddle Road on Hawaii\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and the con\u00adtrast of the new lava with the tree, the grass, and the moun\u00adtains was what made this photo interesting:&nbsp;<a class=\"imagelink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.laurenwood.org\/anyway\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/08\/IMG_0244.jpg\" title=\"tree on Saddle Road on Hawaii\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image146\" src=\"http:\/\/www.laurenwood.org\/anyway\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/08\/IMG_0244.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"tree on Saddle Road on Hawaii\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We had a fam\u00adily trip to Hawaii (the Big Island) in the last week where I could reas\u00adon\u00adably fly before I got too big.
