The mov\u00ading went rel\u00adat\u00adively pain\u00adlessly, although I should really have waited until the DNS<\/span> move had taken effect before killing my DYNDNS<\/span> account, since that meant the site was out of com\u00admis\u00adsion for a little longer than abso\u00adlutely neces\u00adsary. Mind you, that was prob\u00adably all of two hours, so not a big deal. Everything should now work again as before.<\/p>\n

The quick ver\u00adsion of the steps I took to move Any\u00adway<\/em>:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. copy all the Word\u00adPress files and rel\u00adev\u00adant plu\u00adgin files to the new ISP<\/span> site<\/li>\n
  2. clean up the MySQL data\u00adbase as much as pos\u00adsible to cut down on size; mostly delet\u00ading SpamKarma logs and old com\u00adment spam<\/li>\n
  3. deac\u00adtiv\u00adate all the plu\u00adgins except the spam fighter<\/li>\n
  4. export the MySQL data\u00adbase to SQL<\/span> state\u00adments (I use phpmy\u00adad\u00admin for this)<\/li>\n
  5. import the MySQL data\u00adbase to the MySQL data\u00adbase set up on the new ISP<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. make sure the config.php<\/code> file has the right con\u00adfig\u00adur\u00ada\u00adtion settings<\/li>\n
  7. noti\u00adfy the domain regis\u00adtrar of the new DNS<\/span> settings<\/li>\n
  8. delete the rel\u00adev\u00adant part of the dyndns account (that could have been done later)<\/li>\n
  9. wait<\/li>\n
  10. once host laurenwood.org<\/code> shows the new DNS<\/span> has taken effect, run the Word\u00adPress upgrade script<\/li>\n
  11. turn on the oth\u00ader plugins<\/li>\n
  12. run xenu<\/a> to check for any broken links<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    My web site does seem faster now, and my web surf\u00ading is no longer com\u00adpet\u00ading with the spam com\u00adments for band\u00adwidth, so I\u2019d say it\u2019s a win all around.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
