If you haven\u2019t read my post\u00ading, go ahead; there\u2019s too much inform\u00ada\u00adtion to use\u00adfully sum\u00admar\u00adize here and the com\u00adments are good&nbsp;too.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After read\u00ading all the com\u00adments that came in (includ\u00ading some private email), Tim and I chat\u00adted a bit with <a href=\"http:\/\/lookit.typepad.com\/lookit\/\">Paul Hoff\u00adman<\/a>, noted <span class=\"caps\">IETF<\/span>\/<span class=\"caps\">IMC<\/span> heavy. A likely explan\u00ada\u00adtion (as poin\u00adted out by many com\u00admenters) is that the pur\u00advey\u00adors of the \u201caff\u201d sites were prob\u00adably try\u00ading to run an affil\u00adi\u00adate scam on the Adult Friend Find\u00ader site. They prob\u00adably chose my site to frame because Tim has a high Page Rank and often links to my site, and thus my Page Rank is also reas\u00adon\u00adably high. Paul checked and found that they were doing their own name serving, hid\u00ading them\u00adselves quite effect\u00adively from us (well, giv\u00aden more time and effort I\u2019m sure Paul could have dug up more inform\u00ada\u00adtion, but it did\u00adn\u2019t seem worth&nbsp;it).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I pos\u00adted my piece on Sat\u00adurday and Tim poin\u00adted to it not long after\u00adwards. By Sunday after\u00adnoon the \u201caff\u201d sites were notice\u00adably slower and seemed to be going off the air. The last refer\u00adrer I had to my site was from site 23 on Monday Decem\u00adber 18th at 10 am loc\u00adal time; pinging the address shows it\u2019s still there but there is no longer an http serv\u00ader attached to it. The site is still in the Google index but I expect that to go away at some stage as well. So they reacted quickly; I expect we will nev\u00ader know the entire story.
