Last year I did\u00adn\u2019t go since I\u2019d just had a baby 6 weeks before and the fam\u00adily suc\u00adceeded in talk\u00ading me out of it. This year I\u2019m going again. It should be a lot of fun; the idea of the school is to get a bunch of experts as teach\u00aders who go along with the attendees to all the social events, so the attendees can ask ques\u00adtions while every\u00adone is in the pub or wan\u00adder\u00ading around the Old Bodlei\u00adan Lib\u00adrary. Ques\u00adtions while punt\u00ading are best not dir\u00adec\u00adted at the punter, of course, and the rest of us are usu\u00adally too busy laugh\u00ading anyway.<\/p>\n<p>With ses\u00adsions on web ser\u00advices (includ\u00ading iden\u00adtity and secur\u00adity), con\u00adtent and know\u00adledge with <span class=\"caps\">XML<\/span>, <span class=\"caps\">XSLT<\/span>, <span class=\"caps\">XSL-FO<\/span> and XQuery, Teach Your\u00adself Onto\u00adlogy (that one\u2019s new this year!), Build\u00ading <span class=\"caps\">XML<\/span> Applic\u00ada\u00adtions, and <span class=\"caps\">XML<\/span> in Health\u00adcare, there\u2019s lots to choose from. I\u2019ll have to choose which days I attend care\u00adfully, there\u2019s always too much going&nbsp;on.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m speak\u00ading in the Trends and Tran\u00adsi\u00adents track (which I chair each year, even when I\u2019m not there) with Jeni Ten\u00adnison and Dan Con\u00adnolly; I\u2019m talk\u00ading about Web 2.0 while they\u2019re talk\u00ading <span class=\"caps\">XML<\/span> Pro\u00adcessing and Micro\u00adformats respect\u00adively. I even got my present\u00ada\u00adtion deck fin\u00adished, and only a couple of days late! For the last ses\u00adsion of the day, I get the oth\u00ader track chairs to spend five minutes telling us what they think are this year\u2019s hyped or under-appre\u00adci\u00adated tech\u00adno\u00adlo\u00adgies, fol\u00adlowed by a pan\u00adel ses\u00adsion of all the day\u2019s speak\u00aders. There is always some con\u00adtro\u00adversy around people\u2019s opin\u00adions, even of these sup\u00adposedly dry tech\u00adnic\u00adal sub\u00adjects.
