The afore\u00adsaid street was com\u00adpletely closed down for a block which caused a cer\u00adtain amount of traffic hav\u00adoc. I got a close-up look at the deser\u00adted street while inch\u00ading past the yel\u00adlow \u201cPolice \u2014 do not cross\u201d tape (it\u2019s on the usu\u00adal route to the camp). When I got to the camp, I found more chaos in the park\u00ading lot, since two-thirds of the lot was blocked off for shoot\u00ading some film (a com\u00admon occur\u00adrence in Van\u00adcouver). I finally made it back home again, only to find the cat in the back yard play\u00ading with an almost-dead rat. With the cur\u00adrent strike in Van\u00adcouver includ\u00ading the garbage pick-up ser\u00advices, the rat pop\u00adu\u00adla\u00adtion has exploded, so I don\u2019t actu\u00adally object to the cats catch\u00ading rats, but I don\u2019t really want to have to&nbsp;watch.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sum\u00admer in the city, I&nbsp;guess.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today was my turn to take the boy to his soc\u00adcer camp; it also turned out to be the day after the police shot someone on a main street.
