I\u2019m one of the review\u00aders. If you want a high grade if I\u2019m assigned your paper to review, read these hints on writ\u00ading good abstracts first.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Since the talk sub\u00admis\u00adsions are blind-reviewed, the only thing I have to go on is the qual\u00adity of the abstract. Here\u2019s the check-list I go through.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is the abstract long enough? Abstracts that are too short don\u2019t give enough inform\u00ada\u00adtion for me to judge the qual\u00adity prop\u00aderly. Remem\u00adber, I don\u2019t know who you are when I read the abstract.<\/li>\n<li>Does the abstract say why the sub\u00adject is import\u00adant, as well as what the talk will cov\u00ader? Both of these are neces\u00adsary to let people know why they should both\u00ader going to the&nbsp;talk.<\/li>\n<li>Are tech\u00adnic\u00adal terms and acronyms used cor\u00adrectly? If these are wrong, I will tend to assume you don\u2019t know what you\u2019re talk\u00ading about and grade appropriately.<\/li>\n<li>Is the gram\u00admar and spelling cor\u00adrect? I appre\u00adci\u00adate a well-craf\u00adted, gram\u00admat\u00adic\u00adally cor\u00adrect abstract and will tend to assume someone who can write a good abstract can also write a good&nbsp;talk.<\/li>\n<li>Who\u2019s the expec\u00adted audi\u00adence? The abstract should make it clear who is expec\u00adted to bene\u00adfit most from hear\u00ading the talk, wheth\u00ader that\u2019s novice or expert, tech\u00adie or manager.<\/li>\n<li>Does this look like a product pitch?
