And that lots of people are step\u00adping up offer\u00ading to help con\u00advert that data into oth\u00ader formats. This is a ser\u00advice not always avail\u00adable in the com\u00admer\u00adcial world, unfortunately.<\/p>\n<p>The first (non-blog) ver\u00adsion of laurenwood.org was hos\u00adted on a com\u00admer\u00adcial <span class=\"caps\">ISP<\/span> that was sold to someone else, then someone else, etc. Since I\u2019d paid a year in advance (silly me) I did\u00adn\u2019t really notice until it was time to renew, and then I could\u00adn\u2019t find out who to pay! The whois registry gave me a phone num\u00adber, the people at the end of the phone claimed to not know who I was or what my web\u00adsite was, or even the name of the com\u00adpany I\u2019d ori\u00adgin\u00adally signed up with. It was no sur\u00adprise when that site even\u00adtu\u00adally just dis\u00adap\u00adpeared from the web.
