Lots of people told me about how good the spam fil\u00adter is; I tend to find too many false pos\u00adit\u00adives (admit\u00adtedly, most from mail\u00ading list sub\u00adscrip\u00adtions) so I check my spam folder reg\u00adu\u00adlarly. I was puzzled as to why many of Tim\u2019s emails to me ended up in spam , and in par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar those to the soc\u00adcer team our son is on. If you\u2019re send\u00ading email to a num\u00adber of people, some of whom may use Gmail (even if their email address isn\u2019t Gmail, they still might use it as I do, or their com\u00adpany may use Gmail for mail), or if you use Gmail your\u00adself, you need to be aware of this problem.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Google has a <a href=\"http:\/\/mail.google.com\/support\/bin\/answer.py?hl=en&amp;answer=10514\">help page<\/a> on the top\u00adic and it turns out there are two solu\u00adtions. If you\u2019re on the receiv\u00ading end, you can <a href=\"http:\/\/mail.google.com\/support\/bin\/answer.py?answer=6579\">set up a fil\u00adter<\/a> to whitel\u00adist a par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar email address. If you\u2019re send\u00ading the emails, make sure the To: head\u00ader does\u00adn\u2019t match the From: head\u00ader. This can cause a prob\u00adlem with some dis\u00adtri\u00adbu\u00adtion list sys\u00adtems where you put your own email address in the To: head\u00ader to obscure the email addresses you\u2019re send\u00ading the mes\u00adsage to; if you need to do this it\u2019s prob\u00adably a good idea to get a Gmail account if you don\u2019t already have one and try things out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When I\u2019m trav\u00adel\u00adling I run my per\u00adson\u00adal email through my Gmail account, so I have a bet\u00adter web browser inter\u00adface than the one my <span class=\"caps\">ISP<\/span> provides.
