As has been widely repor\u00adted, Sun Microsys\u00adtems laid off a num\u00adber of people on Thursday. That num\u00adber included most of my pro\u00adject team and me, since the pro\u00adject I was man\u00adaging was cancelled. <\/p>\n
Over the nearly four years I was at Sun I learned a lot, con\u00adtrib\u00aduted what I could, and had fun work\u00ading with some excel\u00adlent people. Some of them are still there; oth\u00aders, like me, are now fig\u00adur\u00ading out their next steps. These days it\u2019s easi\u00ader to keep in touch, for which I am grateful.<\/p>\n
What\u2019s next? I\u2019m not really sure. First I\u2019ll take some time off, help out with North\u00adern Voice<\/a>, fin\u00adish off recon\u00adfig\u00adur\u00ading<\/a> my base\u00adment firewall\/website sys\u00adtem, do some house and cot\u00adtage renov\u00ada\u00adtions, catch up on my crafts<\/a>, and think about what I want to do next.
