And no, it\u2019s not what you think. It\u2019s actu\u00adally all <a href=\"http:\/\/www.xmlgrrl.com\/\">Eve Maler<\/a>\u2019s fault. She and I have enjoyed work\u00ading togeth\u00ader on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.xmlconference.org\"><span class=\"caps\">XML<\/span> Con\u00adfer\u00adence<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.xmlsummerschool.com\"><span class=\"caps\">CSW<\/span> <span class=\"caps\">XML<\/span> Sum\u00admer School<\/a> for a couple of years, so when an open\u00ading came up in her group at Sun that she thought I was suited for, it was too good an oppor\u00adtun\u00adity to pass up. I filled in the applic\u00ada\u00adtion, Eve made sure the right people saw it, and everything worked out! We did try to keep it secret from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tbray.org\/ongoing\/\">Tim<\/a> for a while, but that ended up not being prac\u00adtic\u00adal. After all, he had already figured out the issues with liv\u00ading in Canada and work\u00ading for a U.S.-based group and knew the right people to talk&nbsp;to.<\/p>\n<p>My title is Seni\u00ador Tech\u00adnic\u00adal Pro\u00adgram Man\u00adager; like Eve I will be work\u00ading on inter\u00adop\u00ader\u00adab\u00adil\u00adity and tech\u00adno\u00adlogy part\u00adner\u00adships. I\u2019m look\u00ading for\u00adward to it, although since I\u2019ve nev\u00ader worked for a big com\u00adpany before, I\u2019m not quite sure what to expect in many ways. I do know that blog\u00adging is encouraged!<\/p>\n<p>And then there are my oth\u00ader activ\u00adites. Since the <span class=\"caps\">W3C<\/span> Pro\u00adcess Doc\u00adu\u00adment does not allow two mem\u00adbers of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2002\/ab\/\"><span class=\"caps\">W3C<\/span> Advis\u00adory Board<\/a>  to come from the same com\u00adpany, and Eduardo Gutentag was recently elec\u00adted, I am resign\u00ading from the <span class=\"caps\">AB<\/span> after almost three years. I\u2019ve learned a lot from the <span class=\"caps\">AB<\/span> mem\u00adbers and the <span class=\"caps\">W3C<\/span> Team and I thank&nbsp;them.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I will chair the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.xmlconference.org\"><span class=\"caps\">XML<\/span> Con\u00adfer\u00adence<\/a> again this year, but Eve won\u2019t be on the Plan\u00adning Com\u00admit\u00adtee.
