Here\u00adwith a few notes for oth\u00aders plan\u00adning to do&nbsp;this.<\/p>\n<p>The upgrade was mostly unevent\u00adful, with only two prob\u00adlems of any note, under\u00adscor\u00ading that you really should deac\u00adtiv\u00adate any plu\u00adgins you have before start\u00ading the upgrade process:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BAStats does\u00adn\u2019t work, as it appears some of the func\u00adtions it calls have been rearranged into dif\u00adfer\u00adent files. The author seems to be <a href=\"http:\/\/asymptomatic.net\/wp\/2005\/05\/10\/1569\/my-extensive-151-upgrade-process\/\">think\u00ading<\/a> of releas\u00ading a new ver\u00adsion at some stage, so for the time being I\u2019ve just turned it&nbsp;off.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>The feeds were empty, but search\u00ading on the <span class=\"caps\">WP<\/span> sup\u00adport for\u00adum came up with a patch (update: no longer avail\u00adable, or needed) which fixed the problem.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Of course, now the Word\u00adPress team have released 1.5.1.1, which includes that bug-fix, so I just spent the last 10 minutes (lit\u00ader\u00adally) installing that. The 10 minutes includes back\u00ading up the com\u00adplete data\u00adbase, deac\u00adtiv\u00adat\u00ading all the plu\u00adgins, installing, react\u00adiv\u00adat\u00ading the plu\u00adgins, and check\u00ading the results.<\/p>\n<p>All in all a rel\u00adat\u00adively pain\u00adless upgrade. I gath\u00ader there are a lot of secur\u00adity fixes, which alone make the upgrade worth\u00adwhile, and it also meant I could install <a href=\"http:\/\/unknowngenius.com\/blog\/wordpress\/spam-karma\/\">Spam Karma 2<\/a>, which is a big improve\u00adment over the pre\u00advi\u00adous ver\u00adsion, both in being able to get rid of old com\u00adment spam and not have it clut\u00adter\u00ading up your data\u00adbase, and in its fil\u00adter\u00ading abil\u00adit\u00adies. Both of these factors made upgrad\u00ading worth\u00adwhile.
