How long, I won\u00adder, will the blogs.sun.com web\u00adsite still be avail\u00adable? How long to give space to memor\u00adies and reminders?<\/p>\n<p>Some of my own memor\u00adies of Sun, in roughly timeline order:<\/p>\n<p>Work\u00ading on the Sun booth at CeBiT in Ger\u00admany (I was work\u00ading for a Sun reseller at the time). Watch\u00ading the <span class=\"caps\">US<\/span> mar\u00adket\u00ading video at the after-clos\u00ading party, since the Ger\u00adman mar\u00adket\u00ading team decided the video was\u00adn\u2019t appro\u00adpri\u00adate. I still have the \u201cPower of Sun\u201d music <span class=\"caps\">CD<\/span>, and a scarf with images of Sun workstations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Won\u00adder\u00ading why Sun did\u00adn\u2019t sup\u00adport Motif prop\u00aderly, when all the oth\u00ader Unix vendors did.<\/p>\n<p>Find\u00ading a pos\u00adi\u00adtion at Sun that made use of the skills I&nbsp;have.<\/p>\n<p>Meet\u00adings at Menlo Park; long, involved dis\u00adcus\u00adsions on all sorts of secur\u00adity and iden\u00adtity subjects.<\/p>\n<p>Sit\u00adting out\u00adside the cafet\u00ader\u00adia at the Menlo Park office, talk\u00ading to people.<\/p>\n<p>The Sun-intern\u00adal innov\u00ada\u00adtion con\u00adfer\u00adence, mix\u00ading intel\u00adli\u00adgent, innov\u00adat\u00adive, hard\u00adware, soft\u00adware, and oper\u00adat\u00ading sys\u00adtem people togeth\u00ader, with din\u00adner on the&nbsp;beach.<\/p>\n<p>The most fun I\u2019d had at work in a long time on a good pro\u00adject with great people, that unfor\u00adtu\u00adnately fell vic\u00adtim to the Great Fin\u00adan\u00adcial Crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Really good people, know\u00adledge\u00adable. Sun seemed to have a lot of people with integ\u00adrity and ded\u00adic\u00ada\u00adtion. Also its share of less-know\u00adledge\u00adable posers, of course, but the trenches were filled with good people.<\/p>\n<p>There are lots of memor\u00adies out there; Sun was one of those com\u00adpan\u00adies with an influ\u00adence lar\u00adger than its nom\u00adin\u00adal size.
