There are quite a few spon\u00adsors signed up already (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sun.com\/\">Sun Microsys\u00adtems<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.renderx.com\/\">RenderX<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.justsystem.com\/\">Just\u00adsys\u00adtem<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ibm.com\/\"><span class=\"caps\">IBM<\/span><\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dessci.com\/\">DesignScience<\/a>), the dead\u00adline for <a href=\"http:\/\/2005.xmlconference.org\/participation\/lbn\">late-break\u00ading<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/2005.xmlconference.org\/participation\/products\">product present\u00ada\u00adtions<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/2005.xmlconference.org\/participation\/townhallmeetings\">town hall<\/a> sub\u00admis\u00adsions is in 28 days (!!)  and today we <a href=\"http:\/\/2005.xmlconference.org\/node\/128\">activ\u00adated the site<\/a> for pro\u00adceed\u00adings sub\u00admis\u00adsions. The pro\u00adceed\u00ading papers, which have to val\u00adid\u00adate accord\u00ading to the <a href=\"http:\/\/2005.xmlconference.org\/presenters\/schema\">con\u00adfer\u00adence schema<\/a>,  are due on Septem\u00adber&nbsp;16th.<\/p>\n<p>The con\u00adfer\u00adence has always had pro\u00adceed\u00adings and they really add to the value for attendees, as well as those who can\u00ad\u2019t attend the con\u00adfer\u00adence but wish to refer to the work after\u00adwards. I wrote about this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.laurenwood.org\/anyway\/2004\/06\/authoring-xml-the-advantages\/\"> last year<\/a> and won\u2019t bore you by repeat\u00ading myself this year; suf\u00adfice to say that much the same sys\u00adtem applies. <a href=\"http:\/\/norman.walsh.name\/\">Norm Walsh<\/a> helped immensely in tight\u00aden\u00ading up the schema, apply\u00ading what I learned last year in clean\u00ading up the papers so that they all look good in the final <span class=\"caps\">HTML<\/span> and <span class=\"caps\">PDF<\/span> formats. The <a href=\"http:\/\/2005.xmlconference.org\/presenters\/tools\">author\u00ading tool vendors<\/a> have made spe\u00adcial\u00adised tools avail\u00adable for speak\u00aders, and this year <a href=\"http:\/\/www.renderx.com\/\">RenderX<\/a> is cre\u00adat\u00ading the pro\u00adceed\u00adings sys\u00adtem. (SchemaSoft, who made the pro\u00adceed\u00adings sys\u00adtem last year, <a href=\"http:\/\/news.com.com\/Apple+swallows+SchemaSoft\/2100-1047_3-5630368.html\">was acquired<\/a> earli\u00ader this&nbsp;year.)<\/p>\n<p>On anoth\u00ader note, hav\u00ading the con\u00adfer\u00adence web site hos\u00adted by <a href=\"http:\/\/bryght.com\">Bryght<\/a> has been a great help. It\u2019s easi\u00ader for us to fix typos and make neces\u00adsary changes to the con\u00adtent, and we have access to a num\u00adber of fea\u00adtures in the sys\u00adtem, such as an <a href=\"http:\/\/2005.xmlconference.org\/node\/feed\"><span class=\"caps\">RSS<\/span> feed<\/a> so people can keep up to date on the latest con\u00adfer\u00adence news.
