My own words seem inad\u00adequate; I don\u2019t have <a href=\"http:\/\/weblog.burningbird.net\/archives\/2005\/09\/01\/sentimental\/\">Shel\u00adley\u2019s<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/weblog.burningbird.net\/archives\/2005\/09\/01\/a-will-and-a-big-water\/\">lyr\u00adi\u00adcism<\/a>, or <a href=\"http:\/\/zia.blogs.com\/wastedbirthcontrol\/2005\/09\/more_katrina.html\">Cecily\u2019s<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/zia.blogs.com\/wastedbirthcontrol\/2005\/09\/katrina.html\">per\u00adspect\u00adive<\/a>, or <a href=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/BitchPhd?m=700\" a> <\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/BitchPhd?m=697\">con\u00adsist\u00adency<\/a>. I\u2019ve nev\u00ader even been to New Orleans, so I have no pho\u00adtos to add to the store of what was there. I have no idea wheth\u00ader New Orleans will be rebuilt, although it\u2019s obvi\u00adous it will nev\u00ader be the same again. I appre\u00adci\u00adate people who say that now build\u00ading codes can be developed and enforced to with\u00adstand hur\u00adricanes, but worry about what the costs of those build\u00adings will do to the poor who already can\u00ad\u2019t afford reas\u00adon\u00adable accomodation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It seems large parts of the dam\u00adage and destruc\u00adtion were pre\u00advent\u00adable, much of the pain and hor\u00adror could have been ameli\u00ador\u00adated. What does this do to the people who have seen it, exper\u00adi\u00adenced it? What sort of night\u00admares will they relive in their dreams and pass on to their chil\u00addren? And what sort of les\u00adsons will be drawn? Will the sys\u00adtems to hold back the water be designed and built with the same determ\u00adin\u00ada\u00adtion as in Hol\u00adland after the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehollandring.com\/1953-ramp.shtml\">massive floods in 1953<\/a> that killed almost 2000 people? (60% of the Dutch pop\u00adu\u00adla\u00adtion lives on land that is under sea level).
