This year we kept a lot of slots open for late-break\u00ading talks (which don\u2019t have to be only on really late-break\u00ading sub\u00adjects, good present\u00ada\u00adtions on oth\u00ader top\u00adics that don\u2019t duplic\u00adate mater\u00adi\u00adal already on the pro\u00adgram will also be con\u00adsidered, so check what\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.idealliance.org\/xmlusa\/2005\/schedule.html\">already on the pro\u00adgram<\/a>!) We would like to see sub\u00admis\u00adsions on new\u00ader top\u00adics that wer\u00aden\u2019t around in May, wheth\u00ader that\u2019s <span class=\"caps\">WSDL<\/span> for <span class=\"caps\">REST<\/span>, or Ajax, or the tech\u00adnic\u00adal under\u00adpin\u00adnings of Web 2.0. More details on how to sub\u00admit are at <a href=\"http:\/\/2005.xmlconference.org\/participation\/lbn\">Call for Par\u00adti\u00adcip\u00ada\u00adtion \/ Late Break\u00ading News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And there are also the <a href=\"http:\/\/2005.xmlconference.org\/participation\/townhallmeetings\">Town Hall meet\u00adings<\/a>, which this year we\u2019d like to make less form\u00adal, and more \u201cthe oppor\u00adtun\u00adity to voice their opin\u00adion on con\u00adtro\u00adver\u00adsial top\u00adics\u201d open mike, open-to-the-pub\u00adlic, meeting.<\/p>\n<p>And, of course, the <a href=\"http:\/\/2005.xmlconference.org\/participation\/products\">product present\u00ada\u00adtions<\/a>, designed to give attendees a space to really look inside inter\u00adest\u00ading products that imple\u00adment stand\u00adards, inter\u00adop\u00ader\u00adate with oth\u00ader products, and\/or are new on the mar\u00adket. One of the reas\u00adons I like hav\u00ading the product present\u00ada\u00adtion talks on the pro\u00adgram is that it gives attendees a way to find out about a product without wor\u00adry\u00ading that they\u2019ll be pestered by over-eager sales people \u2014 they can find out the info they need without hand\u00ading in their busi\u00adness cards. Of course, lots of vendors aren\u2019t as keen on these talks as they don\u2019t get the busi\u00adness cards, but you nev\u00ader know what makes some\u00adbody buy a product or recom\u00admend a product \u2014 where did the ori\u00adgin\u00adal spark come from? It could be a booth demon\u00adstra\u00adtion, or a full-length product present\u00ada\u00adtion.
